Afeni Shakur-Davis, one of rap's most visible mothers, has long been opposed to the production of a movie based on the life of Tupac Shakur. She had the studio tangled in lawsuits regarding the rights to her son's music and image and had demanded considerable creative control of the project.
But the battle has ended, and the Tupac biopic is now underway. Filming starts this spring, and casting for the lead role has already begun. [Insert your "they should cast Tupac, because he's still alive, right?" joke here.] Hopefully it'll be better than Notorious, the Biggie movie, because that was the worst.
