Hey, remember Korn? The guys behind "Shoots and Ladders" and "Freak on a Leash," and the early forebears of the horrific and douche-centric late-'90s era of nu-metal that polluted our airwaves with similarly poorly-spelled acts like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park? Well, they have a new studio album coming out shortly, The Path of Totality, and are getting all press junket-heavy to get the word out about this "innovative hybrid of metal and dubstep." As part of their media onslaught, the folks over at Billboard sat down with Korn head honcho Jonathan Davis and got themselves a song-by-song analysis/back-story for the new record.

And everything was going nice and smooth —  talk of chaos living in everything, interspersed with complaints about the egos; standard deep(!) meaningful(!) philosophical(!) musings from Davis —  until he gets to the description for the fifth song on the album, "Illuminati." And then things get kind of, well, here:

"I feel like Obama's an Illuminati puppet… it's basically dragged this country down into the worst it's ever been. 'You've built this house of shame' — the White House used to be, everybody looked up at the White House and America and everything, and now I think it's like a house of shame."

Alrighty. Obama's an Illuminati. So, then. We can now all go back to not really worrying what Korn's Jonathan Davis has to say about things.

"An innovative combination of metal and dubstep."

Well at least we'll have something new and horrible to get LouTallica out of our ears.

Guess he wants a return the proud, high minded , financially responsible Bush administration - you know: those guys that threw the country over a cliff and kept the money?

If we're gonna take that trip, you really have to start with Reagan. Also, if you're the type of person to believe in this Illuminati stuff, wouldn't you think ANY person that becomes president is a puppet of theirs?

All presidents are mere puppets for the real shadow govt. behind the scenes. That said, some presidents may be hybrids, which would put them quite a few stations above being a mere puppet.

dear asshat from korn: having an opinion doesnt make you relevant again. your part of the 90's will hopefully never become retr0-hip. I'd rather listen t0 the backstreet boys sing christmas songs. The worst part of this is that i now have freak on a leash mindnumbingly stuck in my head. time to go drink some grain alcohol or give myself a concussion or something.

More incessant, cynical whining
from biased, ignorant and
uninformed pseudo-intellectuals. Your bloated egos
and sense of
self-importance are not impressive to anyone. First and foremost,
the
people on this site and many others who talk shit about Korn are among
the
most painfully stupid I have ever had the displeasure of coming
across. Why is
it that year after year, now essentially decade after
decade, nobody can come
up with one single thing that is even
remotely truthful? You disguise your
lies, exaggerations and
generalizations as "opinions," even though
your comments aren't even
remotely opinionated or persuasive. For years and
years, I've heard
the same tired cliche' bullshit--taking one song that was
written
nearly two decades ago and saying that Jonathan Davis
"always" sings
about it. That's essentially all you people do; take
one thing and
blow it out of proportion.

You also have an extremely dull
and
dry, not to mention elitist, way of viewing music. You measure
quality on the
basis of complexity and simplicity and neither have
anything to do with whether
music is good or not. I don't care if it
is as simple as The Ramones or as
complex as Rush or Dream Theater.
That isn't the point of music. Also, Korn have never been "nu-metal," regardless of what some psuedo-journalist made up in the late 90s. Korn have about as much to do with Limp Bizkit and Staind as Judas Priest does with fruitcake bands like Muse and The Killers.

Your ridiculous and presumptuous
assertions and labeling of Korn fans is outright
laughable. You don't
know any Korn fans. I am one of many
dedicated fans and I have
been there since the beginning. What
really cracks me up is most of the people
who talk shit about Korn
were still sucking on their mom's tits and shitting in
their diapers
when I started listening to them. Get informed, people. KNOW what
you're
talking about. Stop assuming. Stop jumping to conclusions. Stop taking
one
fragment of something and making it into something it isn't. You're not
fooling
anyone except those who haven't got a clue about the band you're
criticizing
to begin with.

The criticism of the comments Jonathan Davis
made
are unfounded and based on an erroneous perception and selective
reading.
First of all, Obama IS bringing this country down and even
most Democrats I
know feel that way. This transcends the juvenile
"conservatives" v.s.
"liberal" bullshit. As far as the illuminati
theories go, like
anything of that nature, I'm sure there is truth
and legend involved. It
doesn't make someone an idiot for discussing
it. There is a lot going on behind
the scenes that the public never
sees, so many of the so called theories are
entirely plausible.

P.S. Rick Paulas, you call yourself a journalist? Here's a tip for you: learn to spell and punctuate correctly and most importantly get informed. You're just embarrassing yourself by inadvertently admitting that you've never listened to Korn's music.

Obama IS NOT Illuminati and ANYONE who says he is SHOULD BE IGNORED THERE AFTER. There is NO SUCH THING as a conspiracy of ANY KIND. 911 was committed by muslims who hate freedom.Obama is a hero and you are UnAmerican if you feel otherwise. If you love your country, you should join the army because we are going to need you to help defend israel.A country with nuclear weapons, that is clearly helpless. This has NOTHING t do with oil, or regional control. Anyone who thinks that is CRAZY and clearly a high school drop out.
Illuminati? hahaha......conspiracy theorists. Cass Sunstein has plans for you.

Rofl those giant rants followed by UGGZ ON SALE! That shit made me laugh. Korn stopped being amazing as soon as they stopped doing what they were great at. What was the last one worth a shit... Take a Look In the Mirror? I still listen to Untouchables at least twice a month. This dubstep metal thing is interesting... I've not gotten through the whole album yet. But it sounds pretty good so far. Jonathan Davis raised my eyebrows with his shot at Obama, but his personal opinions are just that. Personal. If you like the music, LISTEN. If not, don't. Stop trying to be Internet hardasses, nobody cares whether or not you think their stupid for liking Korn.

Korn has it's moments (listen to "Here to Stay") but overall no matter what 'hybrid' metal they come up with next, most traditional metal heads (smarter-levelheaded and usually older music afficionados) will always, always dissaprove of this harbinger of meh.

Anthrax made a comedic attempt at rap-metal and some people took it seriously, then we witnessed the frayed ends of sanity and ethics in music. I am glad I never forked any of my hard earned minimum wage money on Korn when they first appeared on the radar. Phew!
