Listen to M.I.A.'s new single, "Bad Girls"

M.I.A.'s been out of the spotlight for a little while now, after the less than stellar reception of her third album /\/\/\Y/\ and all that "truffle fries" business, but she'll be releasing her fourth album this summer. And now she's released the first single from the LP, "Bad Girls," which will be available for you to buy tomorrow and accompanied by a video this Friday. It seems like early days to premiere a track from an album that's potentially half a year away, but the singer/rapper/artist/shit-stirrer will appear on the first single from Madonna's next album, MDNA, so why not make some extra noise if you're being written about anyway? (Also, an earlier version of the song appeared on her Vicki Leekx mixtape.)

Of course, M.I.A. is also expected to make an appearance during Madge's upcoming Super Bowl halftime show this weekend. She'll be there to fill in the role of "person most likely to do something obnoxious and entertaining," even though she'll be onstage with, like, twenty other people, including Nicki Minaj, LMFAO, Cee-Lo, Yo Yo Ma, Uggie the dog from Artist, whoever sings "The Hamster Dance," and the ghost of Etta James. (Too soon?)

You can hear the earlier release of "Bad Girls" below, but head over to Pitchfork to get the new and supposedly final version.
