Last weekend, conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch and other assorted outrageously wealthy white men gathered at the inside of a volcano a private retreat in California to discuss the following items: money, President Obama, and how to best use their money to beat President Obama. By the end of the three-day retreat, a source tells HuffPo, the Koch brothers and the 250 to 300 other guests pledged a total of $100 million to oust Obama from the White House in the upcoming 2012 election.

The meeting, which took place at the Renaissance Emerald resort in the Coachella Valley, was one of a series of semi-annual, invitation-only conferences hosted by the Koch Brothers, who have been inviting Republican donors and politicians to shoot the shit and swim in piles of money, Scrooge McDuck-style, for the past nine years. This year, it was allegedly attended by Las Vegas casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson, House Majority leader Eric Cantor, Citadel Investment Group CEO Ken Griffin, and other dudes who probably spend more in one night at a Palm Springs gentlemen's club than you do in your entire life.

Of the $100 million raised during the meeting, the Koch Brothers reportedly contributed $60 million, with Charles pledging $40 million and David pledging $20 mill. Due to the cap on donations that can be given to one campaign, most of the money raised will likely go to super PACs or nonprofit organizations that can receive and spend an unlimited amount of funds. So the next time you get so mad at a GOP campaign ad that you break your TV by throwing your shoes at it, tell the repairman that it's all the Koch Brothers' fault and maybe he'll take a few bucks off your bill.

And this is an issue, why? BIG money dominates BOTH sides of the aisle. Don't think for a moment that the Democrats don't take huge amounts of money from very rich people.

I don't know why Hooksexup has such an issue with the Koch brothers, or any other wealthy Republican donors. If they were Democrats you'd gladly welcome their money; zero chance you'd say, "naw, sorry, we don't want your $100M to help re-elect Obama. We'll take our chances. But thanks guys!"

Maybe they have an issue with the Koch bros because they're assholes.

Perhaps... but if that is their opinion then say that. Don't imply that the issue is their money, which is what Hooksexup and many Hooksexup commenters always do, because they'd gladly take the money if it was for a leftwing cause.

It's too bad they couldn't put $100M towards something useful, like maybe job creation. But it's their money. (Or is it?) Then again, they will most likely be supporting wealthy job-killer Romney.

In their opinion, this $100 million will go to job creation, if they are successful.

False equivalencies as to right and left, as always. We all know which political party worships Mamon.

The $100 million is chump change if they can get rid of the inheritance tax.
