After nearly three solid years of mama grizzly and "you betcha" misery, we now know who to blame for introducing Sarah Palin into our lives. Drum roll... Tina Fey! Or Lorne Michaels. Or even the booking agent for SNL in the early 2000s, if you want to get really technical about it.

This information comes to us by way of an interview Tina Fey just did with Fresh Air host Terry Gross where she recalls the time in 2004 when she and her husband visited John McCain in D.C. Apparently Fey and McCain really bonded during his hosting gig on SNL back in 2002. So much so, in fact, they took a photo together which ended up appearing on the cover of Life magazine. Legend has it McCain then framed said picture and put it up on the wall in his D.C. office. Cute, right?

Well, maybe, except for the fact that Fey bears a remarkable resemblance to a certain Alaskan governor. Could this be the reason McCain felt so comfortable with Palin the first time they met? Lorne Michaels is convinced that it is, and thus is the actual reason McCain chose her to be his running mate. It all makes such eerie sense, I almost believe it.
