Michele Bachmann

CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Committee, kicked off today without Sarah Palin (who was either home being a good grizzly mama or holding out for more lucrative speaking engagements, depending on who you ask). But, they still managed to fill their roster of famous conservatives; keynote speakers include Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, Rand Paul, and others.

The event kicked off with Michele Bachmann. And man, is she scary. She has the same country-bumpkin light accent as Sarah Palin, a vague twang and predilection for folk sayings and the same unsteady zeal. Her whole speech was pretty fiery, but the real highlight came when, in mocking the U.S.'s growing debt to China, she asked "Hu's your daddy?" to the President.

Aside from the fact that it's now officially okay to use schoolyard taunts in major political speeches, I am impressed that she knows who the president of China is.

It should also be noted that, despite their fervent fear of spending, the Republican Party and its Tea Party offshoot have still failed to meaningfully address how they'd balance the budget and say what programs they'd cut. I'm just sayin', y'all.

Meh, a little lasering around the eyes and she's as good as new.
