Yet another racist Republican email surfaces, likens Obama to a chimp
By Jessica GentileApril 18th, 2011, 9:00 amComments (15)Here's something pretty messed up, but not all that surprising. Orange County Republican Party central-committee member and Tea Party activist, Marilyn Davenport, recently decided to send out a "joke email" to all her colleagues. In case you weren't aware, "joke email" is what the kids are calling racist quips these days. The note in question featured a primate family with Obama's face superimposed on the baby of the bunch, along with the grammatically-offensive caption, "Now you know why no birth certificate." Looks like Donald Trump just found his next Christmas card.
So how did Davenport respond when caught sending the insensitive missive? By not apologizing, of course. "Everybody who knows me knows that I am not a racist," said Davenport in a recent interview. "It was a joke. I have friends who are black." Yes, you read that right. She actually said "I have friends who are black," which is possibly more offensive than the email itself. But hey, there's no better way to combat allegations of racism than by making even more racist statements.
Even Davenport's peers are chagrined. Orange County Republican Party chairman Scott Baugh told OC Weekly that Davenport should consider resigning. "I think she should consider stepping down as an elected official," he said. "It (the email) is dripping with racism and it does not promote the type of message Orange County Republicans want to deliver to the public."

Good God. Racists like this belong in the Obama Justice Department, not the Republican Party.
Soooooooo do we still have to be nice to these people and work in a spirit of bipartisanship? (these people being tea partiers)
Just once I'd like to see one of these trolls get caught doing something like this and say, "Of course I'm a racist. Isn't that kind of obvious?"
There was no shortage of pictures comparing George W. Bush to a chimp (the resemblance is uncanny!), I don't see what's inherently racist about this. Maybe if he was holding a watermelon...
listen , stupid , any form of an ape like animal has all ways been the symbol of racism for blacks . you can play ignorant if you like but everyone knows it is as common as water melon.
Yes, every racist knows that portraying a black man as an ape is racist. Portraying George Bush as an ape is, well, you know, just being edgy and cool. No racism there. Move along, no racism.
Besides "everyone" knows that minorities cannot be racist. They say so and that's good enough for me.
Um, what is racist about the quote "I have friends who are black"?
*I* have friends who are black, a lot of them. I guess that makes me a megaracist in the author's eyes.
BTW this tasteless joke was the work of one person, not the Tea Party and not the Republican party. You can't blame the groups as a whole for this, no matter how desperately you'd like to.
Once again, MRAGH, you hit the nail on the head.
Don't expect to have your comments viewed objectively, though. The accusation of racism is as good as proof.
MRAGH, the author is referencing the fact that someone who claims to have black friends would send such an offensive and racist email as a joke...Obviously, having black friends does not make one racist. Subscribing to the idea that it's acceptable to superimpose the face of the black president of your country onto the body of a chimp makes me doubt whether she'll have any black friends after this...
MRAGH: Incorrect. "One person" didn't mail these out, other OC Republican Party personnel sent these emails around as well, as did Davenport's political friends. Now, of course, it's all over the country. It is astonishing how ugly the Republicans and their ignorant spawn, the Tea Party, are willing to get to try to damage Obama. And how they're so positive everyone in America would just see this as a "little joke."
Really, Kel? Care to prove that? How many of those "personnel" sent the email around? How many of Davenport's political "friends?"
How else would the email have gotten around, if not forwarded by the people she originally sent it to?
I really don't care what these politics articles are about, the country won't be right until a Republican occupies every elected position in the nation. Also, Obama is a poopiehead.
Publius knows how to spell "the." Who the f--- are you? Probably some troll, racist loser.
Every office held by a Republican? Not good. Every office held by a conservative? Much better. Feel free to google the difference. I doubt you'll get it but it will occupy your time while you're waiting for your free STD test.
It's funny how no one ever acknowledges the snow monkey...
Now you say something
