Adam Lambert Impersonates A Heterosexual With A Nude Model In Details

Adam Lambert - runner-up from the recent season of American Idol and official gay-card carrier - has an interview and photo shoot in the newest issue of Details, and he is getting way more intimate with that nude female model than most straight celebs ever get to do outside of an ill-conceived sex tape. Like this:

In the article itself, Lambert talks about losing his virginity, doing lots of drugs during a particularly fallow period in his career development, and how he reacts to the multitudes of bras and sex toys thrown at him from his adoring audience of female fans. That's all well and good, but I know what really matters is seeing an openly gay celebrity put some woman's nipple in his mouth, don't you?

Ah yes, I feel better now. But I have to say, readers, this spread gives me pause. While we at Scanner (and Hooksexup in general) are big fans of crossing sexual boundaries, and while it's obviously a bit shocking to see Lambert getting so into some lady business, does this strike anyone else as the easy way out for Details? I understand that photo shoots need to be attention grabbing, but wouldn't a series of, say, Justin Timberlake macking on a dude be just as shocking? And maybe it's my bad memory, but I can't seem to think of any examples of straight celebs pretending to be gay for a magazine spread.

Perhaps I'm being too touchy, but it seems to be a case of Details having its gay cake and eating it in a hetero way, too. (Ouch, that turn of phrase got a bit unweildy there, didn't it?) Do you guys think this was a bit of a cop-out on the part of the magazine?
