Sandra Bullock's Naked Finger Is Really Not That Important

So, Sandra Bullock was recently spotted without her wedding ring. So was Charlie Sheen’s wife, Brooke Mueller. And so much attention is focused on Elin Woods's ring finger that I'm a little worried it might burst into flames.

The only thing tabloids are more obsessed with than alleged “baby bumps” is whether or not a celebrity is wearing her wedding ring. I could make a giant chart out of the times it was breathlessly reported that Jon and/or Kate Gosselin was seen with or without a ring. “Click here for more pictures of Leanne Rimes without her wedding ring!” screams Radar. Basically, "Check out these pictures of NOTHING."

Because obviously, if you take off your ring, your marriage is in shambles / you're having an affair. It's not like a ring is a piece of jewelry that can be removed and put back on. The relationship actually lives inside it.

Ok, so sure, if you see Sandra Bullock these days and she’s not wearing her ring, it’s fair to assume that's because her husband turned out to be sleeping with nazis and stuff. But we knew that, without seeing the paparazzi shot of her hand that Entertainment Tonight just paid $60,000 dollars for.
