Anti-immigrant Governor of Arizona has a breakdown during TV debate
By Brian FairbanksSeptember 2nd, 2010, 3:23 pmComments (7)Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is the new hero of the right wing's anti-immigrant crusade, signing a bill to allow coppers to basically racially profile Hispanics in the interest of "fightin' terr'ism" or whatever. Of course, terrorists aren't that interested in blowing up one story adobe houses in the desert or strapping bombs to foxes and sending them into a Pink Taco, but try telling that to people who just voted for John McCain to be their Republican candidate for Senator again.
In this video from a recent televised debate, Brewer is suddenly faced with having to explain why any sane person would actually vote for her. She fails miserably, giving a terribly uncomfortable performance. The only thing missing here is the final nail -- a Glenn Beck-style crying jag.
Other than start an ID law that's meant to harass dirty, no-good, brown-skinned cocaine lovers out of town, what has she actually done? In her words, sue the federal government and prevent Arizonans from having healthcare. Sounds like a great piece of campaign lit.
To me, the worst part isn't even the pauses and total lack of cohesive thought, it's saying "we have done everything that we could possibly do." The obvious retort in every viewer's mind following that could only be: "Then why would we want to re-elect you?"

Why are these nutbars given any credence by sane people?
Well, that was a whole lot of nothing.
1070 has huge support in Arizona, she has a good shot at getting reelected. But businesspeople HATE her. There are other states that businesses can move to that can still provide cheap labor from immigrants both legal and illegal.
I dont know which was worse: her nondramatic pauses, or her discomfort when speaking. The smug grin didn't work for me either. And check out the way she was holding her hands: in prayer! Is she really saying "God help me! I need votes!" Does she not know about the separation of church and state?
You should dig up the other clip, post debate, where she doggedly refuses to respond to increasingly aggressive press questions about her claims of headless bodies turning up in the Arizona desert.
Oh, and it's "elect," not re-elect. She became Governor when Janet Napolitano resigned to become Homeland Security Secretary.

or rather how do these nutjobs gets elected in the first place?!
This woman - and several others like her - has accidentally discovered that by saying absolutely nothing of substance and uttering a couple of "branding" phrases, her followers can project whatever they want to onto her image . Not new, still works.
Now you say something
