Look, guys, he's totally moved on from all that messy business that happened, like, four years ago! As Mel "Holocaust Denier-Lite" Gibson would know, once something is a few years in the past, it just really doesn't matter anymore. He's definitely, totally gotten over all that stuff and he's learned a lot of really great lessons about how to act like an adult and things you should/should not say.

Why can't we just realize that fact and drop it, you know?

Yeah, Mel, if things that happened years in the past didn't matter any more, you'd have no career at ALL. Dognose it ain't your past few movies that made you famous.
