Catch the Tom Cruise Scientology Video Before LRH's Goons Start Breaking Servers

Posted by Bryan Christian

We were unable to catch the original posting of this clip on YouTube, as Scientology's crack squad of lawyers had gotten it pulled by the time we'd gotten word of it. (Catch a description of that here.) But now Defamer's got it (un-embed-ably, natch), and since we fully expect a mysterious D-o-S attack originating from Clearviewwater, FL to crash their servers, like, any minute now, you might want to get while the getting is good.

For what it's worth, we find that the video -- which is basically a sort of pro-Scientology rant / acceptance speech for the "Freedom Medal of Valor," an award that we assume has had its name translated into Japanese and back into English -- um, er... Where were we? So much to unpack here... Ah, the video, yes. Well, we find that it actually kind of humanizes Mr. Cruise. By which we mean: he seems more than ever like every crazy person we've encountered.

Defamer calls this "terrifyingly creepy", but as far as I'm concerned, he comes across like your average activist--he's convinced that the world is screwed up and that he feels that it's his responsibility to mobilize his knowledge, social position, skills, and passion to make it a better place.  If he's crazy, I think it's got more to do with WHAT it is that he believes in, than the fact that he's an activist.  Activists only concern me when they believe in things that I disagree with, and I still don't know what exactly Scientologists believe in, besides aliens, that psychiatric drugs are bad, and according to this video, that criminals can't be rehabilitated.

The problem with the way he's speaking is that he's going on and on about how 'Scientologists know the way', they 'know the truth' and that everyone who doesn't know HAS TO BE TAUGHT.

This "YOU'RE WRONG, I'M RIGHT" thing is the problem... when you start thinking that the 'org' you're involved in is the only ones who can help it's not a very big step to start 'removing' those who disagree.

It's even MORE scary when what you BELIEVE in is the writings of a Science Fiction writer, and involves invented space aliens and the like...

See, talking about 'spectators' and that they either need to 'help' or be 'removed from the arena'... how does one 'remove' someone from the 'arena' Tom? Kill them? Incarcerate them?

Don't be fooled by someone continuing spouting 'help', and 'do good' and the like... look past that and to them saying that their way is the ONLY way, that if you're not 'on board' with them then you must be removed or pushed aside. Anyone who is REALLY trying to help in a truly GOOD way will not enforce that other must believe in the fictional being or beings (yes I include all religions who won't help those who will not convert to their way of seeing things here) that they believe in.

And to try to assert that Scientology is THE authority on criminals, the mind, happiness etc. is just scary. Watch this and the talk of having these 'tools' and being 'on board' etc. and then watch any number of self help infomercials. Eerily similar.

Oh, and a CLASSIC cult/brainwashing technique is to invent a set of terms and language to distance yourself from outsiders and make you part of the 'ones' is on full display here:

SPs, KSW, PTSSP etc. etc... "Oh, you don't know what an SP is... you're not one of us are you?" (SP = Suppressive Personality by the way)

Actually it's "Clearwater, FL" not "Clearview".  They have a center here in Tampa (which is one town over from Clearwater) also.
