Hillary and Barack: Now What The Hell Do We Do?

Posted by Brian Fairbanks

You went from being up by 25% to winning by a Felliniesque 8.5% and you're telling us you can still win this?

Well, we in the media will play your game, then, since without the Democratic contest going all the way to August, we are totally devoid of ideas for news stories...

A look at the headlines this morning, which span the spectrum from the tabloid-batshit-crazy-desperate-to-keep-it-going to the scientific types who did their homework and find themselves shouted down.

To Clinton, big rebound proves "Yes, She Can" - USA Today

Hillary Raises $2.5 Million And Counting - MyDD

Clinton wins primary, keeping bid alive - International Herald Tribune

Elizabeth Edwards to campaign with Hillary in North Carolina - Fark, via Daily Kos

Students suspended for skipping school to meet Obama. - Yahoo!

Obama Camp: Clinton "just lost her last, best chance" - CNN

Obama shifting foucs from Clinton to McCain - New York Times

Times regretting Hillary endorsement - Gawker, via NYT

"Virtually impossible" for Clinton to win more delegates - Huffington Post

The real winner? John McCain - Time

We'd like to ask the Clinton supporters or anyone, really, if Pennyslvania means Clinton could still win this. What do you think?

It's such an old story to say this, but I am incredibly tired of Brian Fairbanks' diatribes against Hillary.  They're not funny, they're not all that informative, and I can't believe they're still coming...if Hooksexup is going to have partisan-style political coverage, please set up an appropriate section and don't drop it into Scanner.

No, what happened yesterday does not mean she can still win.  Unless she wants to ignore voters in the "little" (read: irrelevant to her campaign) states and only count the "big" states.  For someone who cares so much about all voters' voices being heard, she sure doesn't give a shit about what they're saying, does she?  I'm from PA, and when I woke up this morning to see the results, it felt like waking up on Christmas morning only to find no presents under the tree. . . because Hillary Clinton killed Santa Claus.

yes! as someone who really thought either candidate would do the job well, i've become more and more hillary sided b/c of all the rabid obama supporters and their blind willingness to be such dicks about it...plus hillary would just be a better president for so many reasons;)

. . . I guess if you like the whole pathological liar thing.  And no, I don't think I'm being a dick, I think it's obvious she has zero integrity and would operate just like a Republican.  It is impossible to tell who she really is.  When she drops the phrase "obliterate Iran" into casual conversation, I just get the feeling we can't trust her.  I don't know who she will be if she gets elected.

I don't think it's obvious that she would operate just like a Republican... I mean with the whole healthcare and balancing the budget...not very Republican. It's true she'll operate like a politician... but so will Obama..they already do...it's their job. Neither one will be anywhere as untrustworthy or blatantly break laws like the current administration..thank god!I think, however, Mrs. Clinton will be able to rally more bipartisan support for her plans than Obama. And I think she already has more solid plans and the ability to follow through...but it's just my opinion...and I won't feel like Obama killed Santa or the Easter Bunny or Baby Jesus if he gets the nomination b/c I'm not 6 and i don't believe in an infallible benevolent leader that is all things to all people.

What's with all these accusations I hear of Obama supporters being a bunch of cultists with blind faith? We have faith in him, yeah, but he earned it, we didn't just arbitrarily decide that he should be president. The guy came out of nowhere. Unlike Hillary who used the Clinton brand to wrap up a Senate seat in a nice, big state that she could hopefully use as a pathway to the presidential nomination. When has she "followed through" with anything? Healthcare? Oh yeah, she screwed that up. I guess she "followed through" with her vote for the Iraq war to show how tough she is. Hooray. And now she's talking about "obliterating" Iran. "Obliterate" is not a word I want to hear out of any elected official's mouth. Or really anybody's mouth but an angry teenage boy playing video games. This is not a mentality I want in our politics. She really scares me. Please wake me up when this nightmarish primary is over.

Thank you, LydiaSarah.  When Clinton supporters act as though Obama supporters are just silly idealists who buy into some kind of rock star persona, they negate what he has accomplished and what he stands for, trivializing him and those who vote for him.  I don't know why so many people are convinced that he won't be able to do a good job and I just hope that people will do more independent research on his record and his plans instead of following what the mainstream media feeds us.

And I'm sorry if a joke made me sound like a 6 year-old cult member.  Nice sense of humor . . .

Haha, well I liked the joke, UnfortunatelyFromPA.

Personally I think it says a lot about our society when people who simply have genuine, unironic belief in a leader are immediately cast as just a bunch of impressionable groupies. A critical mind is essential, of course, but has our political culture really become so cynical that we all have to smirk and snark about politics in order for our opinions to be taken seriously as educated and thoughtul? The Watergate legacy lives on.

Once upon a time, I thought Hillary would make a fine president, and yes, I was a bit hesitant about Obama. Now I am at the point when I see Hillary speak, I just hear bullshit.  You can see it in her eyes that she barely believes half of what she's saying.  Obama has honor & dignity, intelligence & kindness, and whatever he is lacking in the experience department, I have all the faith in the world that he will surround himself with good guidance.

Faith? Hope? the first time in my 36 years that i have ever had those feelings about a politician.  That MUST count for something.

uh... is it just me or does Hillary kind of sort of have nice legs in that photo?  I dunno... that coy smile, easy-goin' posture, nice rack... is she a bit of a hottie?

Or should I take myself out and shoot myself post-haste?
