Last night pretty people in pretty clothes descended on Manhattan for The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala. This year's theme was "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" and the only thing we can come up with for Scarlett Johansson is that she was going for Wifewoman in order to show off her new engagement ring. (Oh, come on, like you've never made up your own Superhero!)
We'll let you believe for a little while longer that the ring is part of Scarlett's alter ego while we move onto Katie Holmes—who actually did a nice job of capturing the essence of a superhero who is not L. Ron Hubbard while managing to look fabulous—and Anna Wintour, who scared us a little.
In case you couldn't tell, Wintour is supposed to be Storm from "X-Men." But you probably could tell because somebody decided to take the theme very literally. While we commend her for her bravery, we'd rather have seen her in tights and a cape.
