The NYPD has proven that it is just as racist to its own as it is to civilians, which should make equal opportunity fans very happy.
We just wanted to add to today's police-related-story coverage. It's heartwarming to know that whether you're a civilian or the highest ranking black policeman in the NYPD, you will be racially profiled and harassed for BWB (Breathing While being Black). Chief Douglas Zeigler is the head of the Community Affairs unit. But that didn't matter to the two white cops, who don't discriminate, who confronted Zeigler as he sat in his department-issued sport utility vehicle on a street in Queens. One of the two cops, Officer Michael Granahan tried to force open Zeigler's door, even after the three star chief had identified himself.
But don't worry, the NYPD is really cracking down on its racist cops. NYPD spokesman was maybe too harsh when he said the officer who harassed Zeigler "dealt with the chief in a discourteous manner, which is unacceptable." So unacceptable, in fact, the officer has been placed on modified duty. The NYPD should be saluted for using harsh language to condemn the racist discourteous behavior against Zeigler and for recognizing how racism threatens etiquette everywhere.
