Groups of Women Will Flock to the "Sex And The City" Movie

Posted by Emily Farris

And we will not be among them, because we'll be alone, in a wig and dark glasses a few weeks after it opens.

But most die-hard fans who don't give a fuck what you think about the fact that they still love "Sex and the City" will down a Cosmopolitan, throw on their stilettos, grab their gal pals and take up an entire row at their local movie theater.

Women all over the country are planning girls' night out at the movies, and some are even traveling to New York to get the full "Sex and the City" experience.

In Vail, Colo., Bonnie Vesey plans to go one better, with cosmopolitans and an Asian fusion dinner party for 10 at the Beaver Creek resort before a 9 p.m. screening at a nearby theater. The only annoyance, Ms. Vesey said, is that the movie won’t get to her neighborhood until almost a week after it opens in most of the country.

In Manhattan, On Location Tours sold out 300 tickets, at $130 each, for a special 10-hour tour of “Sex and the City” hot spots. The night peaks with a group viewing of the movie at a reserved theater auditorium in Midtown, followed by a party at a club in Chelsea.

“We’re getting women who were going to fly to New York and see the movie here anyway, and then found us,” said Cathy Epstein, the tour company’s marketing director.

We're scared. Anyone have a nice little place outside of the city where we can stay that weekend?

I loved the series and how it ended.  It's no secret what happens in the movie and the questions that are raised.  I'm disappointed that SATC has turned into a cash grab to get fans to pay good money to see this film and at least one sequel.  SATC should have ended with the final episode and allowed the fans to envision their own ending.
