Hysterical Regis Philbin Tampon Commercial Buried In Otherwise Crummy SNL Sketch

Posted by Bryan Christian

As usual these days, Kristen Wiig is the real MVP in this otherwise overlong and underfunny sketch what-if-ing "The Office" into Japanese TV. Overlong and underfunny, that is, except for about ten seconds in the middle of the thing, at around 2:16, when we are treated to what can only be described as a seizure-inducing Smooth Moves-type blipvert starring Darrell Hammond as a tampon-shilling Regis Philbin. "Buy these - you'll go CRAZY for them!"

Whoever it was who snuck that in there, to you we owe a huge domo arigato.

UPDATE: What's up, jerks at Hulu/NBC - too good for an embed at Scanner? Fine, whatever. Have a look at the clip here.

Her first cookbook, Casserole Crazy: Hot Stuff for Your Oven was published in 2008. Emily recently escaped New York and now lives in a ridiculously large apartment in Kansas City, MO with her cat, but just one... so far.

Brian Fairbanks is a filmmaker living in the wilds of Brooklyn. He previously wrote for the Hartford Courant and Gawker. He won the Williamsburg Spelling Bee once. He loves cats, women with guns, and burning books.

Colleen Kane has been an editor at BUST and Playgirl magazines and has written for the endangered species of dead-tree magazines like SPIN and Plenty, as well as Radar Online and other websites.
