Shut Up or I'm Going to Go All Lorena Bobbitt on Your Phalange

Posted by Emily Farris

Earlier this week, a date pointed out that we point a lot when trying to make a point when telling a story. So we're working on it. And now we're just really grateful he didn't bite off our finger, like this woman did to her husband.

A lovers spat ends with a man missing his finger. It happened in Hutchison, Kan., over the weekend.

The woman apparently didn't like her husband shaking his finger at her during a heated argument and bit the tip of it off. It's still missing. Police think the 45-year-old Hutchison woman swallowed it.

Police said Adelghun Johnson hit her husband, David Johnson three times, and then he went to push her away, She grabbed his right hand and bit the tip of the index finger off at the first joint. Police couldn't find the fingertip and the woman wouldn't fess up. She was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery. She was released early Sunday on $5,000 bond.

Great story, but we like the headline even better, Oh Yum. Woman Bites Off, Swallows Husband's Phalange.

You know, I do the same thing. And it wasn't until recently that I realized how aggressive that sometimes appears! Lucky for me, I did before someone munched on me.

I never thought about it until I took a class about training dogs. According to experts and books I've read, you should NEVER point at a dog, because it's always aggressive. I do point at my mom's dog, but only when he's being very bad and is in serious need of knowing that I'm in control.  I still think it's better than yelling and/or hitting, and I immediately follow it up with hugs and praise when he calms down and behaves.
