The 7 Worst Rap Attempts Of All Time

Posted by Verena von Pfetten

Ever think to yourself, "Self, I wonder what the 7 worst rap attempts of all time are?" Well, Spike took it upon themselves to answer that question. Come with us, as we follow Spike down hip-hop memory lane.

The list has the usual suspects and, amazingly, one surprise. (Dee Dee Ramone, #3, -- of The Ramones -- released a rap album?) Anyway, Brian Austin Green, of course, opens up the list at #7, though the writer is quick to give him credit: "His songs aren’t that bad. It’s just a shame it’s literally impossible to take this dude seriously."  We think Sussman was a little light on this West Beverly grad - ranking P. Diddy at number 5. Come on! At least Diddy had multiple albums!

The list is rounded out by Shaquille O'Neal, Mr. T, Marky Mark, and, obviously, Vanilla Ice. We were hoping for a couple more unknowns in there - and at this point, we can't be sure it's fair to put Vanilla Ice as the all time worst rap attempt ever. We're pretty sure that still gets airtime.

Surely Brian Wilson (of beach boys fame) should be topping that list. Dee Dee got nothing on this:

About 10 years ago, I saw Vanilla Ice literally clear out a venue with his horrible act.  It was one of invited-only events (no box office) and some tickets were available via a radio contest which I won.  Free food, free booze...no complaints, right?  WRONG.  The opening acts were decent but when Vanilla Ice came on a little after 11PM, the "guests" could not leave fast enough.  Me and my friends did our best to stick around as long as we could but by 11:30 we had enough.  Mind you this was an event that scheduled to last at least until 1AM...and no, they didn't run out of food or booze.
