Sometimes headlines can seem funnier than they are. Like this one, which -- initially, at least -- seems like it's the lead-in to a relatively hilarious story. Until you re-read it and realize that, no, it's not funny, because it's about a 7-year-old kid who decided that feeding unsuspecting animals to a giant crocodile would be funny. Also, the first line of the article includes the word "bludgeoning"...
The Daily Mail's story opens like this:
A boy of seven threw a zoo’s rare reptiles to the resident crocodile and bludgeoned other creatures to death.
CCTV recorded the child laughing as he rampaged round the Australian reptile farm, his mother making no attempt to stop him.
Ten lizards, turtles and other reptiles were devoured by the crocodile, while three were pounded to death with rocks during the 30-minute killing spree.
Um...is it just us or does this kid sound like the proto-typical pre-adolescent psychopath / serial killer? Isn't killing small animals a dead (sorry!) giveaway?
The Daily Mail was also kind enough to note that "In the footage, the boy's face remains largely blank." That sounds like a "Ohmygod, this kid is a future Patrick Bateman" euphemism to us! To be fair, we're also just prone to judgement. Which is why we think the mother has some problems of her own - considering she made "no attempt to stop him." Talk about spoi-led.
