Something Useful We Hope You Don't Need Much in 2009

Posted by Colleen Kane

For too long now, when discussing bad news amongst friends, I have punctuated that verbally with the traditional sad horn sound: [wah-wahhhhhhhhh]. But now, just in time for the news in Gawker's "Great Magazine Die-Off" category that one of my regular freelance outlets is folding their print magazine, my old man stumbled across a newer and slightly updated handy push-button sound effect online, with an awesome url as a bonus.

You might recognize this sound of dismay from The Price is Right. It's the "you fucked up" sound.

Bombombomwooooo.com

It can easily be applied to "we're all screwed" and "oh crap I missed the credit card bill due date again so now my APR will be like 35%" and all sorts of similar sentiments. I know this is going to get a lot of use in my household, but lets hope none of us needs to use it too much.

Ha ha! My son got a little freaked out when I played that sound. I should play that sound every time he has a poopy diaper.

Man I need a version of that on my desk at work. That way when my boss gets on to me for spending too much time on Scanner I can just frown and hit the bombombomwoooo button. I'm sure he'd understand.
