We've always thought of Archibald "Archie" Andrews and of Archie Comics and Jarvis Cocker of the seminal Britpop band Pulp as pretty much the same person. They've both got keen fashion sense, they're both smooth with the ladies, and they both worship Serge Gainsbourg. So no surprise, perhaps, that someone out there -- one Chris Sims -- mashed the two of them up, splicing lyrics from "Common People" into what we presume were once decidedly more demure, less class-struggle-y speech bubbles. We love it, and can't wait to see if Chris follows through with his promise/threat to use "This is Hardcore" next.
So, is this the new thing? Playing with something's dialogue and making it sort of seamless? You got that Porn/War on Terror video and GarfieldWithoutGarfield in just the last few days. Is there a name for this sort of thing? Can we make one up? Our suggestion: "tigering," after the retrofitted Woody Allen comedy What's Up, Tiger Lily? Got something better? Send it in! Otherwise, we're just gonna use "tigering" until someone does.
