  • We Admit It: We Were Charmed By the Torture-Loving, Orgy-Recommending Supreme Court Justice That Ruined Everybody's Lives

OK, so, granted, we're the married guy around here and it's been a while since we've been at a party, ran into someone that we hated, and then got into verbal skirmishes with them so often over the night that we still hated them -- and maybe hated them even more -- but were also totally trying to figure out the right moment to propose that we continue the scrapping someplace more comfortable, like say our space foam mattress. But, um, last night? Antonin Scalia on 60 Minutes? Yeah. We seem to remember it being a lot like that. Judicially speaking. What can we say? He was cantankerous and crotchety in a way that we pray we will some day get away with.

    No; we are not proud.

  • Scanner Confessions: I Will Most Definitely Put On a Wig and Dark Glasses, Be First in Line to See the "Sex and the City" Movie

What kind of relationship can we have if we're not honest—truly honest—with one another? I, Scanner Emily, am somewhat embarrassed to tell you that I love "Sex and the City." I have watched every episode at least eight times. I have done this in part because it's always on TV, and in part because I enjoy the show, though I hate many of the things it represents: pink drinks, super tall heels, high carbon emissions from over use of taxis when one could take the subway except for those damn super tall heels, and well, I'm not a fan of Manhattan (as anyone who knows me outside of The Internets knows). I am, however, a fan of sex, cities, cute clothes, women who aren't afraid to talk and write about sex and the idea that someone could have a job similar to mine and have a ridiculous apartment, wardrobe and going-out budget. That said, would I be caught dead in one of those "I'm a Carrie" shirts? Hell no. In fact, they make me want to drop kick somebody. But as much as I hate to admit it, you bet your ass I will put on dark glasses and be the first in line to see the "Sex and the City" movie. You roll your eyes now, but what if I told you that the new, extended trailer leads us to believe that Big leaves Carrie at the altar, Steve cheats on Miranda, and as soon as Charlotte and Harry are happy with their cute little Chinese adoptee, Charlotte finally gets knocked up?

  • Star Wars Tattoos... and Shame

We have a confession to make: we've never seen "Star Wars." Any of them. Ever. We know it's kind-of shameful, and you're probably thinking "what business does she have writing a culture blog when she's never seen 'Star Wars?'" And you're right. But we figure since we've waited this long, why not wait until we have kids and experience it through the eyes of a child or some sappy B.S. like that? That said, we appreciate the effect that "Star Wars" has on people, the joy that fathers get out of teaching their sons about the good and bad guys, and we spent a good deal of 8th grade going around telling everyone we were their "fathah." Plus, there's this really great Pop Up Guide to the Galaxy that has a light-up Lightsaber in the back that we'll probably get our cousin for Christmas. So we're not totally in the dark here. And we really love tattoos, so we got pretty excited about the Top 10 Craziest Star Wars Tattoos.
