Gotta get serious for a sec: two unrelated studies in the last week have demonstrated that HPV, a virus largely known as being related to cervical cancers, is a little more virulent than you might think. A Hawaiian study reports that anal infections of the virus are as common as cervical ones in young women, even in those without a history of anal sex; and a Johns Hopkins doctor has shown the virus to be related to an uptick in oral cancers among men. Time to open up those Gardasil studies to everyone, perhaps?
