Andrew Zimmern Can't Possibly Keep Pretending Bugs Are Tasty [VIDEO]

Posted by Jake Kalish

We watch Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern. A lot. More than we mean to. And one thing that always strikes us his how much this guy loves to eat insects. Every time we see him licking his lips over some ants, crickets, or roaches, we're like "Dude. You can't possibly love eating bugs. Stop playing." We say that to ourselves, because talking to your television is crazy behavior.

But Zimmern keeps playing, acting like a pile of barbecued dung beetles is the tasting menu at Per Se. He's got to be either insane or lying. And we're adventurous eaters here at the Remote Island; if we were in Thailand, we might well sample some fried bugs, like Dhani Jones did on the premiere ep of Dhani Tackles The Globe. Jones then yelped, had trouble swallowing, and exclaimed "Ugh. Something just oozed in my mouth!" Yup, that seems about right. But Zimmern ain't right. He searches for bugs everywhere he goes, and invariably loves them. Check out this video of him sampling delectable june bugs, and declaring "People who don't eat bugs are seriously missing out"...

Lindy Parker has worked as a ghostwriter, editor, dance instructor and a purveyor of dreams, one beer at a time. She loves Charles Dickens and Gabriel Garcia Marquez and also, straight-to-video releases with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's possible she reads more teen fiction than she should. She hails from Los Angeles, her hometown and soul mate, but she lives in Brooklyn, the fling she'll never forget.

Olivia Purnell left Ohio for sunny Los Angeles; then found that she couldn’t ignore New York City’s call, and brought herself to Brooklyn where she has worked with GenArt, BlackBook, the School of American Ballet, and finished an M.A. in Creative Writing from N.Y.U. She loves one-liners with sting and hates the stench of the subway in the summer. That said, she can’t get enough of either.
