Bristol Palin On Fox News: Abstinence-Only Education Is "Not Realistic"

Despite the fact that her mother voted for abstinence-only education in Alaska in 2006, Bristol Palin, 18-year-old mom of Tripp, told Fox News' Greta Van Susteren that "everyone should be abstinent or whatever, but it's not realistic."  Sustern presses her about teen pregnancy, and asks if she was "just lazy" about using contraception, which prompts the response from Bristol, who seems very sweet and more than a little overwhelmed. Preach on, Miss Independent (the quote about abstinence comes with about 30 seconds left in this clip):

It makes a certain kind of crazy sense. The elder Ms. Palin presents herself as a mother bear, fiercely protective of her offspring. The younger Ms. Palin is simply emulating the model set by her mother by producing offspring to protect. Either that, or it's plain old fashioned double standard hypocrisy: do as I say, not as I do.
