Meanest girl in online dating

One of Hooksexup's intrepid field agents was in a bar in Brooklyn when he ran into a guy in a not-too-unusual situation — the guy was there to meet a blind date, the girl never showed, so he hung around drinking and looking for someone to commiserate with. Again, not that unusual, until it turned out that there were fourteen other guys, there for the exact same reason.

Lillyoftheally, an OkCupid user with a cute picture and a profile somewhere between quirky and insane, was apparently approached by all fifteen guys. She replied to each with some chitchat, and then, a few days later, an invitation to meet for a drink. The troop of hapless would-be Romeos arrived around 10 p.m., as per ''Lilly's" instructions. Soon, after chatting over beers and cigarettes, they discovered they had been duped. According to Andrew V.

"She told me online that she plays pool here every Wednesday night. So I went over to the pool table and didn't see her. I just saw a guy fiddling with his iPhone. After she hadn't shown up for a little while, I started to get suspicious. I asked the guy if he was waiting for a date from OkCupid. He said yes. Pretty soon, our posse started pouring in. She was real pretty. I think we'd all agree about that."

A couple of the men left fairly soon after realizing they'd been hoodwinked, but a bunch stuck around and kept drinking. Roy, twenty-six, said:

"I was expecting a human being. A female human being. Instead, I get fourteen dudes standing around, staring at their phones, looking around."

The gentleman-callers came from near and far, Brooklyn and other outer boroughs. One, Andrew, traveled for an hour and a half from The Bronx for the blind date:

"I'm kind of bummed but I'm impressed. And I'd fall for it again," Andrew said. "I just sent her an OkCupid message on my phone. I wrote her and said, 'Well-played.'"

Despite the surprisingly gracious responses, no one had any convincing theories as to why she would have done it. The bar, Williamsburg's The Levee, firmly denies that it was a promotional stunt (and what kind of promo would that be? "Come here and get your heart broken?") and it seems unlikely that it was a spambot — since you have to be pretty human to convince fifteen men to actually come meet you.

Is she a former online dater who'd been stood-up one too many times, getting her vengeance on mankind? A college student involved in some sort of weird research project?

There are some lessons to be learned, however, like "Don't agree to meet up with someone who won't give you her phone number first." And, that whole dark-cloud / silver-lining thing — since in the end, it apparently turned out to be a pretty fun night. Also, dating in New York can be fucking rough.

At least she didn't show up! Can you imagine the testosterone flying if she had walked in and had 15 guys ready to fight over her?! It would have been like an episode of The Bachelorette, fuelled by booze and blue balls.

Well played? Sheesh, you're an idiot. You only say that because you harbor some imaginary hope you can still get in her pants. She was a manipulative cunt, pure and simple.

I think Moops may have been one of the guys that showed up and quickly left.

Agree with G Unit. Probably a dude with a stolen picture and too much time on his hands. He may even have been in the bar watching as the drama unfolded.

This reminds me of a job interview I went on. There's ten or so of us sitting in the lobby waiting to be interviewed. Some guy comes out and tells us that the position's been abolished.

@Wayste Position had been ABOLISHED? That's the funniest thing I've read yet this morning! (Also, WTF, how do you get FIFTEEN MEN to show up anywhere? I don't think I've even gotten fifteen total messages on OKC in the past 6 months.)

Haha...interesting. I'm on Okcupid and I did the same thing. I'm a male, I set up a fake profile and I was curious what women went through as far as creepy ass fools emailing like crazy everyday. I posted an alluring pic of a friend of mine and was receiving nasty emails immediately...referring to their cocks needing to be sucked, cars needing to be washed, and soulmates needing to be found. Grody....grody indeed. After a day or two I knew what had to be done. I contacted the men who were offering their genitals, along with the guys who OBVIOUSLY had written an essay that they were sending to every girl on the site, like a fucking resume, and made plans with them. I was on the site collecting asshats for over a week. I told them all to meet me at the same place on the same night. I went there with my roommate. We played it off like we got duped just like they did. I felt kinda bad at one point...before that night. I kept reminding myself that these fuckers deserved it....and they did. Creepy motherfuckers.

Years ago, when I was bartending in a small place, me and a co-worker did this....We live in a military town near Ft Brtagg....we needed to figure out how to get more people in the bar to get more tips....of course it worked! We had 17 guys show up between the two of us using fake profiles and chatting guys up all week online. Most of them came in, sat down and at least ordered a drink. Some of them became regular customers, so it worked out nicely.

She obviously sounded like a psycho in her posting but yet these stupid men wanted to meet her this is why I have quit trying to meet a decent man there isn't any left. All they want are crazy women who will treat them like dirt it must be a challenge for them as long as she looks pretty a woman can get away with anything including geting a man to drool all over them I have found treating a man well and being faithful to them gets you no where that is why I am no longer dating because I can't be manipulative and bitchy I guess there is no hope for me finding a man I guess it is better to be alone than in bad company.

Wow, this is in no way true, you need to meet different men. I don't think I've ever met a man who meets this description. Good luck!

Good revenge, girlfriend! I've been stood up by more online "dates" than I care to count. It's obviously a game for most men, and they need to be taught a lesson.

That's funny. I'm sure it would have been easy to turn the game on her if they had wanted to; however, maybe it would have been harder for them than I think. I may be giving them too much credit to be able to do this. Funny anyway!

Or maybe it was the bar owner, looking for a cheap means of drumming up a bit more business. 13 patrons for the evening, for the price of a few minutes of time? Cheap.

'The bar, Williamsburg's The Levee, firmly denies that it was a promotional stunt (and what kind of promo would that be? "Come here and get your heart broken?")'

Well no, a publicity stunt that lands your bar exactly 15 disgruntled men would be a failure. Getting the bar's name and location mentioned in a quirky story on a popular website is a brilliant publicity stunt though.

But why should I have to tell you? Your anonymous field agent is obviously behind the whole thing.

This is a pretty great marketing scheme! As a social experiment it's both hilarious and so, so rude (if you fish for the genuine folk who earnestly travel long distances in the hopes of meeting a similar partner). Hopefully you're just baiting the Creepers at this point!

Years ago, I was talking to a young woman about the numerous times I have agreed to meet a woman at a restaurant or a bar only to be stood up. She explained that many women will agree to meet a man somewhere so that she can "check him out." She will pass the place and give the man a quick look over. If she is not immediately impressed, she just stolls on by. My guess is that the woman in question probably came by the bar, quickly looked over the men inside, and decided that none of them were worth her time.

Did they verify that this was really a woman? No. My bet is that it was a guy.

no kidding

The self-summary reads like it was written by a guy. And the photo is of a 14-16 year old girl, not a 23 year old.
