Wet Hot American Summer prequel in the works

The 2001 cult classic Wet Hot American Summer, which is responsible for kicking off the careers of some of today's best comedians, is getting a prequel. What's more, even though the actors were much too old for their roles in the first film, the planned prequel will take things in an even more bizarre direction: all the original actors, now ten years older, will return to their original roles.

The film's director, David Wain, who also stuck around from the original, explains:

The prequel would be the same summer... So it would be forty-year olds playing sixteen-year olds. And yeah, we’re in the early stages of thinking about that.

The age discrepancy could only add to the absurdist comedy of the original, so no Benjamin Button-style reverse-aging technology will be required. The original film featured a talking can, an impending doomsday meteor, and a cook who liked to fondle his sweaters. Is a sixteen-year-old camp counselor with osteoporosis really such a stretch?

Hopefully we'll get to see Bradley Cooper take it up the ass again.
