Listen: first official track from Kanye and Jay-Z's Watch the Throne
By Virginia SmithJuly 21st, 2011, 10:30 amComments (6)Jay-Z and Kanye West released the first official track from their upcoming album Watch the Throne, which is set to be released within the next few weeks. You can stream "Otis" below (spoiler alert: it does indeed sample Otis Redding) or download it over at Ill Roots.
Disappointingly, the "Try a Little Tenderness" sample isn't put to very creative use here, but on the plus side, Kanye's at his punny, self-deprecating best ("Sophisticated ignorance/I write my curses in cursive"). Even if you're not that impressed, you have to admit it's a whole lot easier to listen to than "H.A.M."

Thanks JayZ, now we get more fucking Kanye...that's just great.
Kanye should have done a full album with Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell (Child Rebel Soldier). The trio have only done three songs together but all three have been A+ quality. I was really excited for Watch the Throne (particularly after hearing "That's My Bitch"), but the first two singles have all but killed my desire for this album.
Agreed. Us Placers is so good. At the risk of not sounding too pretentious it is a wildly abstract track.
I didn't like this track as much, sounds like it could go through some serious mastering still.
Not only did I think this was ten thousand times better than HAM, I thought Kanye killed Jigga on this.
Kanye is an asshat, Jay-Z is a douche, and listening to this makes me want to go visit the throne.
