Sarah Palin addresses Tea Party "hobbits" in Iowa

At a Tea Party of America rally in Indianola, Iowa yesterday, Sarah Palin took to the stage amidst chants of "Run, Sarah, Run" (echoing "Drill, Baby, Drill") to rally roughly 2,000 tea-party "hobbits," which is around 2,000 more than Christine O'Donnell drew to her book signing. (Not counting store employees.) The self-shilla from Wasilla spoke at National Balloon Classic Field after potential speaker O'Donnell had been invited, uninvited, re-invited, re-uninvited, then re-re-invited, on the condition that she not show up.

The Tea Party, a movement Harold Bloom says "cherishes stupidity and zealotry and hates thinking, reading and teaching," was treated to a forty-minute, buzzword-laden speech by Palin taking aim at the president, bashing "Obamacare" and "the far left's irresponsible and radical policies" which have wakened a sleeping America. She talked about people coming from their deer stands, duck blinds, and John Deeres to the ballot box. She railed against "the Politicos in the beltway," and, especially, "crony capitalism." (A veiled dig at Rick Perry.) Her denigration of "the permanent political class" I didn't exactly get, seeing as how she's been making her living off the government since 1992.

I do give Palin credit for going easy on the folksy linguistic tics. She did get a "hopey-changey" reference in, but I only caught one "doggone." I don't have a problem with Palin, she's just a celebrity who quit her governorship mid-term to try and get paid, that's the American way, but her followers do worry me. They seemed a little too receptive to Palin's proposal of eliminating all federal corporate income tax like it's confiscatory Bolshevism or something. (The corporate-owned business press can rally around that one themselves.) Palin would offset that by saying no more bailouts and eliminating loopholes. Because, according to her, corporate welfare is socialism for the very rich. It's a curious idea, considering that when she was governor, Palin banged Alaskan oil companies with so many windfall-profit taxes that they had to cut down on their drilling.

A recent Fox News poll revealed that seventy-one percent of Republicans, and sixty-six percent of tea baggers don't want Palin to run for president in 2012, and, presumably, ever. Her sound-bitey response to that was "Polls...they're for strippers and cross-country skiers." Perhaps she's hanging fire on announcing her decision because she wants to milk it for all it's worth, sensing that she had her chance to be a heartbeat away, and that that preposterous scenario could never repeat itself. Palin will be back amongst the Gadsden flags on Monday, scaring seniors about their social-security checks as she speaks at a Tea Party Express rally in New Hampshire.

All in all, an event of such incredible depth that it deserved at least this many lines. I mean, shit.

"Polls...they're for strippers" -- I defer to Ms. Palin's expertise. I don't know what equipment strippers need.

So what's that great jobs program the "Tele-prompter and Chief " is coming up with?
Hell, if a half-wit junior Senator / community organizer can do the job a Governor certainly can.

I guess he's leaving it up to the super-patriots who brag about being the job creators... you know, the ones that are reaping record profits, but never, ever creating jobs. At least not ones that pay a living wage in THIS country.

Corporate America is your friend... all evidence to the contrary.

Guess so, but it begs the question, why did he leave his community organizes to become President if he's so devoid of any ideas?

Super rich patriots, like Liberal Poster Child Warren "Buy and Rape" Buffet?
Or perhaps Convict Felon George Soros? Or maybe Steve Jobs whose Apple Inc makes records profits by using slave Labor in China? Oh, that's right, those are all "Good Guys"!

Reaping record profits? Which ones? I want to invest.

What boggles the mind is why the traditional media would give empty-headed, historically ignorant and consistently inaccurate, wretchedly unproductive (unless you consider their successful breeding records) women, like Sarah Palin, Michelle Backman, and Chistine O'Donnell, expensive, scarce air time, when we hardly ever see women with truly successful, productive careers or significant, well-considered ideas, such as Dianne Feinstein, Susan Rice, Madeline Albright, and many more on air, unless in some rare, one-time interview. The ones they force on us, every day, have nothing to say, except empty talking points. I listened carefully to Michelle's responses at the Tea Party get-together, today, and I suppose people who attended wanted to hear the same old rant again, or they wouldn't have attended, but I'm still waiting to hear from any of them what it is about the Administration's healthcare program they actually believe is going to totally end the world! Or, how about just ruin anything, at all. They make it sound like the ideological and legislative nuclear bomb aimed at our "democracy", whatever that means anymore, when Bush's policies that took away many of our civil rights, REALLY, like habeus corpus, our right to privacy when on the phone and internet, and practically everything that protected us from illegal search and siezure, being arrested for nothing and tortured somewhere, etc., seems to have been fine with them. Michelle did disclose her energy policy a couple of days ago - just go ahead and completely destroy the environment and everything healthy and beautiful on the North American continent and all the waterways surrounding it, Mrs. live off the government with your foster children scam that costs taxpayers millions, if you add all the Backman-type families that use such kids as revenue streams. She wants to drill everywhere and frack gas so all the water we'd like to drink bursts into flames, as well as dig and burn coal, until we can't breathe the air and the people in West Virginia drown in landslides full of sludge and watch their mountains get chopped down to flatlands. All you who listen to such plans, thinking that they are better than developing wind and solar farms, figuring out how to use geothermal, utilize tried and true strategies, such as cogeneration, and finding the ingenuity to develop new approaches to our energy needs, should take a visit to some of the countries that ignore environmental impacts from fossil fuels and see if you want to eat the contaminated crops and drink the water, much less taste and smell the air. It's the Repubicans, and particularly the Tea Party, that have obstructed better programs than we have that Obama would have implemented by now, had the right wingers not blocked the way. We wouldn't need to fine people who won't buy health care, if we had been able to get Universal Health Care through the stubborn, "Reject everything Obama wants so he will fail" Repubicans, who are treasonous to put their own political careers ahead of what is best for all of us.

Pretty much says it all, doesn't it?
