Sarah Palin has a problem with the Obama family holiday card

As if the toll of multiple wars, high unemployment, and Matt Damon telling Elle his former hero has no balls weren't enough, President Obama now has to hear about Sarah Palin complaining to Fox News about the official White House holiday greeting card, and its apparent lack of "family, faith, and freedom."

Palin, who recently hinted at a possible eleventh-hour presidential candidacy (translation: "Hey everybody, I'm still here! The sexy librarian, remember?"), told Fox she thought it "odd" that the card ( which features a present-laden table with a poinsettia but no Christmas tree) would focus on First Dog Bo sprawled in front of a cozy-looking fire. She said most Americans prefer "American foundational values illustrated and displayed on Christmas cards and on a Christmas tree." (Hypoallergenic Portuguese Water Dogs are for socialists!) Palin added, "It's just a different way of thinking coming out of the White House."

The White House holiday card was designed by L.A. artist Mark Matuszak, who was contacted by the White House social secretary. Matuszak said, "They wanted to do an inside shot, something home-related. So we thought, let's put Bo in front of a fireplace." And a treeless photo of Bo isn't even the most egregious holiday miscue the Obamas have ever committed. Said Palin, "Even stranger than that was his first year in office when the Christmas ornaments included Chairman Mao. People had to ask that it be removed because it was offensive." (The community-group decorated White House Christmas tree in 2009 apparently featured an ornament showing a reproduction of Andy Warhol's "Mao" portrait.)

At least Bo gets to lie near a fire. The painting featured on George W. Bush's 2005 holiday card showed the Bush family dogs, Barney and Miss Beazely, sitting on the snowy front lawn of the White House, probably miserable.
