Fox is sorry for asking viewers if the Jews killed Jesus

Fox News: not just fucking up in the USA! (Now there's a slogan. You're welcome, Fox marketing department.) It turns out that international versions of the oft maligned news channel can also make bafflingly offensive, totally avoidable mistakes. Fox Latin America has had to apologize to the general public for asking this somewhat seasonally inappropriate question on Facebook to promote a National Geographic special: who is responsible for the death of Jesus? With the options: Pontius Pilate, the Jewish People, or the High Priests. (It was Pilate, FYI. I mean, if you want to get technical about it. He was the judge at the trial, so it really was up to him.)
Apparently this question makes some people very angry! People like Jewish people, who maybe don't want the death of a major religion's god placed squarely (and incorrectly) on their shoulders? And also because, um, Jesus was a Jew? And because it's generally unadvisable to ascribe an act to an entire group of people? And because the Vatican denied the idea anyway in the '60s? And I could keep question talking for a while? But you probably get the idea?
Realizing they stepped in it, Fox Latin America quickly backtracked:
Fox Spokeswoman Guadalupe Lucero apologized on behalf of National Geographic, saying the poll was removed immediately and measures have been taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
Keep up the good work, Fox! The Onion can only produce so much content in one day, after all, and sometimes we all need a good laugh.

Wow. One whole story on an amazing piece of journalistic malpractice. The basic point is valid. MSNBC is a commercial failure and an embarrassment to journalism while FNC is a burr under the saddle of liberals but very successful.

I'm tired of sock puppets falsely comparing MSNBC with Fox News. Both Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch have admitted that Fox News is a vehicle for conservative opinion and is in no way an actual news operation. Fox is "entertainment', not journalism. MSNBC deals in fact-based commentary. Everything said by, say, Rachel Maddow can be verified, whereas at Fox, fantasy and emotional hot buttons are far more important than facts and knowledgable analysis.
Whew! Thanks for Kel for stepping into the gap and provide the Truth that we've all been missing. What would we do without you, Kel?
But Fox is your daily obsession. Compare the number of Fox articles to MSNBC. You show a bias.
Much like the relentless Palin articles. You give her more air time than Fox does.
So for homework how about giving us something more than a two week old article.
And why is this a Fox issue, why isn't National Geographic being called out for creating the special in the first place?
Well, it *is* possible that Fox's mistakes are more common and more hilarious. (Not just possible. True! Oh, how they make me chuckle.) And I'm not sure why you're looking for unbiased opinions on this blog when even news channels like MSNBC and Fox have their own slants. If you want Reuters or the AP, they do have their own sites.

Even a biased selection can still be news, i.e. accurate coverage of recent events. If the choice of stories wasn't tailored to the audience, it'd be a pretty poor blog.

Too bad you didn't get it right, musclehead. Pontius Pilate believed Jesus to be innocent yet the crowd chose Barabas for clemency over Jesus. Pontius famously washed his hands of responsibility, acknowledging that the crowd chose the guilty man over the innocent.
