As the Miley Cyrus character on SNL might say, it's "pretty cool" that Jerry Seinfeld is collating a treasure trove of old material for his new website that launches Friday. JerrySeinfeld.com will be an online repository for material accrued from thirty-six years in the comedy game, including over 1,000 clips of stand-up routines and comedic interviews. The site will parcel out three videos each day, in a move that Seinfeld refers to as "portion control." He joked:

"I don't want everything. Burger King now has a burger where you decide how many patties. How disgusting is that? That's the problem right there. That's the cultural moment that I am repudiating here."

A lot of unauthorized Seinfeld material is scattered around the Web for fans to pick and choose from, but the new site will allow Seinfeld die-hards to do some one-stop shopping for all their whimsical-musing needs. Seinfeld said, "Who can go through the Raiders of the Lost Ark catacombs of YouTube? It's completely random."

The new Web page (which won't include video clips from the nine seasons of Seinfeld, other than the stand-up segments) also allows the fifty-seven-year-old Seinfeld to essentially curate his legacy by creating a kind of digital time capsule. He explained:

"I really thought, 'Where's my stuff going to be when I'm dead? Is it just gone for all time? Who could sift through it? I thought, I should filter this out and be the judge of what I thought was good."

Check out a brief clip from his 1977 TV debut on the very '70s-sounding Celebrity Cabaret below. That table on the stage would be a tough ticket today!

I can't help but feel like he is becoming more and more egomanical as he gets older. Why does that always have to happen and ruin a good thing.
