The premise: a young girl in a mental institution retreats into a fantasy world to conquer her real-life demons by battling dragons, samurais, World War II war machines, giant robot samurais (?), and a whole bunch of other shit with the help of four brothel workers, one of whom is played by Vanessa Hudgens. So cliché, am I right?

The film is directed by Zack Snyder, formerly of 300 and Watchmen, the first of which I enjoyed despite having major, significant issues with, the second of which I... did not really enjoy but found visually interesting and harmless enough. Anyway, given the man's pedigree — and the fact that he described it as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns" (American McGee is filing a lawsuit as we speak, I'm sure) — you can be sure that the film will look gorgeous and be batshit insane.

At first, I was going to say here something along the lines of "Blah blah Zack Snyder blah blah women fighting in skimpy clothes blah blah makes no sense blah blah gratuitous male fantasy world." BUT, then I remembered one of the reasons why I liked 300 despite my qualms:

Zack Snyder: equal opportunity gratuity provider.

Plus, it's got Jon Hamm so it has to be good.

How about Die Hard in the Cuckoo's Nest? I loved Earle Haley as Rorschact and the child molester, but, say it with me, Kelly...mfin'...Leak.
