About a month ago, I visited some friends in Chicago and we had what we called a "Progressive Cocktail Party," meaning we progressed from house to house (we also progessed from drunk to drunker...). It was a great idea and we all had so much fun. All together, we hit three houses. At the first house we drank white wine, listened to Brazilian music and ate the most fantastic appetizers (I'll share a recipe of my favorite tomorrow). At house #2, we nibbled on French bread, fresh fruit and drank red wine. And at house # 3, we were treated to two pitchers of Dark and Stormy cocktails. I'd never heard of a Dark and Stormy before, and though it's a very distinct taste that I'm pretty sure most people need to acquire, it's such a gorgeous looking drink, it's definitely worth the effort it may take to love it. The drink has such a distinct taste, actually, that experts say it's so brand-specific that using anything else would just ruin it. Those brands and the entire recipe after ther jump. (Oh, and fyi: just one glass of this mighty cocktail will take more than the "edge" off — it'll take off the whole siding).
