Design By Rose
Rose Cobb of Design By Rose Designed the Books-to-go shelving, pictured above, in 2002. Meant to be a remedy for those who move — either their home or their room layout — frequently, Books-to-go included a screw-like handle for securing books during the moving process, and skateboard wheels for easy transport. They were also easily stackable.
When I initially stumbled upon Rose's design online, I saw it as an ingenius alternative to bookends (and quite attractive and sturdy as well).
Alas, the design proved too expensive to mass-produce, and all plans of making the shelving available for purchase have since been...um...shelved.
We weep for our loss (after all, I am constantly in search of the perfect bookshelf), but have high hopes for future pieces from Rose's workshop. Check out her other designs.
