Last week, the New York Times discovered friends with benefits. Thanks NYT for bringing our mom the full story. She'd always been a little confused. This Times article on dating in the workplace (people do it!) is, again, quite the revelation. We're really grateful to the New York Times for reminding us, over and over, that people screw other people in social or professional proximity to them and that, sometimes, if they like screwing each other enough, people marry people in social or professional proximity to them. We were so inspired by the Times dating and relationships coverage, we came up with some pitches of our own:
- People sometimes go out to a bar, get drunk, and then have sloppy, one-time sex with a stranger. This crazy new trend even has a name: one-night stand. It's happening all over Brooklyn, right now! And you know what that means? It's the new urban, hipster thing to do.
- There's this website called Craigslist.org where singles can write to attractive strangers they saw but were too shy to approach in person. It's called a Missed Connection. Isn't that cute? We know, the Internet is a scary place full of perverts, freaks, and photos of genitalia, but regular people use Craigslist, too. You can even buy a bike or a silverware set there. One stop for love and cheap living room furniture!
- Ever met someone and thought, "Wow, she'd be perfect for my brother. He's a sucker for blue eyes and a Harvard business school MBA?" Happens all the time, right? Some crazy New Yorkers have really stepped it up and are actually playing cupid. That's right, they set people who have never met up on "blind dates" with each other, and watch the sparks fly.
That's our pitch.
