We failed to get the word out last week about the Gawker brain-drain because we were too busy cuddling on the couch and feeding each other macadamia nuts. So sorry! It's a last Friday in November tradition! Here you go: Choire Sicha and Emily Gould quit the Internet empire for what we can assume will be greener, cleaner pastures. After recent probing, critical articles on Gawker in New York Magazine and n+1, we'd expected a shrug of indifference or a fiery take-down; instead, we got resignations and kind words for Keith Gessen's book. Although we do enjoy the image of Choire and Emily walking wistfully down an empty SoHo street into the sunset as the Iron and Wine begins and the end credits roll.
But wait! This is, of course, not the end, it's the beginning. While you're polishing up your resumes and dusting off your interview suits as you apply for the Gawker managing editor position, we've come up with some job ideas for Emily and Choire.
