So, earlier today we were sent this video of Salma Hayek breasfeeding a small African baby and we're totally torn as to which side of the creepy / cute debate we're on...
On the one hand, she's breastfeeding a small child that is not her own. On the other, it's a starving baby! And it's so very hungry!
Can you guys help us out?

I voted cute because it's altruistic and babies in general are cute. But it's a little creepy that she can lactate so easily. I know that women can start lactating when their maternal instinct kicks in or whatever but it still kind of throws me off.
lucky baby.
I mean, it was hungry, and now it's not, right?
OKAY LOOK WE'RE ALL THINKING IT.
Lovely. Women used to breastfeed each other's babies all the time, now we're less into sharing milk, but she did a good thing. Didn't solve the baby's problem in the long term, but it was a nice gesture.
In Finland (where my mom's parents are from), especially in small villages, everyone breastfeeds each other's kids. It's considered bad form not to. No joke.
if I ever meek Salma Hayek I'm going to tell her I haven't eaten for days...
Re: the "lacating on demand". Um, she gave birth to her daughter late September. Since she is a huge advocate of breastfeeding it is not strange to figure she is still breastfeeding her own daughter 5-6 months later.
I'm excited to see public examples of cross-feeding!
Actually, she gave birth to her daughter in September 2007.
It is only very recently (and probably still only in select parts of the world, like here in the United States) that this would be considered anything other than normal and generous.
I'm proud of her for not being worried about how this might effect her image.
Ewww. I know it's probably normal in most cultures, but eww.
I applaud Salma Hayek for a noble act of kindness and caring. With that kind of caring the world would be a better place to live. Wished more lactating women were able to help the impoverished in the world. I agree this act by Salma Hayek is only a temporary benefit for the baby but at least it is one more meal towards preventing starvation. I strongly feel it a tragedy that anyone starves to death in the world especially where we have so much excess in this country. Salma Hayek has just become a heroin in my book. Breasts were designed to feed, not accessories for adornment. I admit that I enjoy a well shaped real boob as much as any other, but that is another topic for a different venue.
