"The Running Man" is Coming True

Posted by Colleen Kane

The 1987 film The Running Man, based on the Stephen King short story, was showing on one of the movie channels last night, prompting Mr. Fiance and I to reflect how close we are to that dystopia coming true. Reality series have almost gotten to the point where humans are being hunted down for the entertainment of the home viewers.

Wait, did I say "almost"? Just found out that this scenario is really going to happen. And the hunter will be...

The Nuge.

"Runnin' Wild...From Ted Nugent" will debut on CMT in August. (Of course it will be on CMT.)

Thank yooou, and have a good weekend.

Are the contestants allowed to hunt him in return? After all it's not sport if the prey can't also kill you. I would so like to hunt down that creep on behalf of all the animals he's slaughtered.

As much as I dislike sport hunting, I wouldn't go so far as to say that Nugent 'slaughtered' the animals. That's a word that should be reserved for factory farms. Hunting is, after all, a natural instinct in all the Earth's creatures - us included; it's an evolutionary necessity. I'd rather somebody kill and cook their own dinner than casually eat a fast food burger and never wonder how it got into their hands in the first place.

Didn't they have a very similar show a few years back on MTV or something, same people, same concept?
