Penis art kicked out of Russian contest
A member (snicker) of Russian art group Voina was banned from entering in a competition hosted by the State Centre of Contemporary Art for being making inappropriate work. The 220-foot penis he painted on the side of a drawbridge would rise menacingly into the air every time the bridge opened. "A Penis in KGB Captivity" was conceived as a protest against the Russian government, who kindly responded by hosing down the graffiti. Silencing freedom of expression definitely sucks, but in this case I'm comfortable with disqualifying something a fourteen-year old boy could have drawn during recess.

Rutgers isn't exactly the first university to offer gender-neutral housing, so what makes them worthy of the news tidbit?

I think the crotch grab is an accepted form of greeting among the indie spirit people.
