Aflac fires Gilbert Gottfried following Twitter "jokes"

This weekend saw some harsh tweets from Iago the parrot. Tweets so harsh they resulted in his termination as the voice of the Aflac duck. Gilbert Gottfried went on a bizarre Twitter rampage, offending pretty much everyone's sensibilities with a string of jokes mocking the crisis in Japan. In what might be record time, Aflac fired Gottfried only hours after discovering his Twitter humor. Some of my favorite tweets include:
I fucked a girl in japan. She screamed "I feel the earth move and I'm getting wet."
What does every Japanese person have in their apartment? Flood lights.
Japan called me. They said "maybe those jokes are a hit in the U.S., but over here, they're all sinking."
Let this be a lesson to you wisecracking, rainbow-plumed characters: too soon is too soon.

I think Gilbert Gottfried crossed some serious lines with those jokes, but come on people, that is his job description. It's what he does. If his mind understood appropriate vs. inappropriate he wouldn't be a comedian.
Fuck anyone who can't take a joke. After september 11 he was the first person to make a joke about it, and it was funny. It's his retuine, he's been making mean spirited jokes for fucking ever, and now that japan has an earth quake he can't joke about it because it's deemed to soon, go find something real to complain about folks.
He's the most annoying person in the world and completely unfunny in every way except dentally. Good riddance.
AFLAC does some huge percentage of its business in Japan, so they had to can him. But what did they expect? @Sowat noted his Sept. 11 joke, but after he was booed for it, he launched into The Aristocrats. This is the guy they hired. It's like Major Renault being shocked to find gambling going on at Rick's Cafe.
Dunno why people choose to waste the energy being offended by a guy doing what he's always done. Those joke forms are a constant fixture on those roasts you people love.
AFLAC decided they were against its best interest and canned him. Case closed.
