Angelina Jolie wants to portray Cleopatra as unsexy

Angelina Jolie, one of Hollywood's biggest sex symbols, is set to play Cleopatra, one of history's sexiest leaders. However, Jolie doesn't see it that way and wants to play up Cleo's other great assets in her portrayal. According to Jolie:
"[Cleopatra] has been very misunderstood… I thought it was all about the glamour, but then I read about her and she was a very strong mother, she spoke five languages and she was a leader... My performance will never be as lovely as Elizabeth [Taylor]'s. We are trying to get into a different truth about her as a pharaoh in history and not a sex symbol, because she really wasn't. Even this idea of her having many lovers — it was possible that it was only two. She is very interesting, but she wasn't a great beauty."
I understand her desire to represent the pharaoh as a more three-dimensional figure, though I'm not sure that necessarily has to exclude sex appeal. Great accomplishments and great looks don't have to be mutually exclusive, right? Besides, is it even possible for Jolie to look unsexy? They'd better hire a great makeup artist for that job.

Well, she was supposed to have had a fleshy face and a hooked nose. Lovely.

Right, except it seems that they didn't go together in the case of Cleopatra, so why pretend otherwise? Go, Angie!
fleshy face,,,and hook nose comes from the euro/albanian side probably mixed with some of the persian concubines that were brought in with alexander...... Speculation ill say -- whos sayin what she was/or how she was ? No pictures , no true evidence. And re-gardless who she was,, she was still from a foriegn bloodline not to true egyptians. one of the last tolome kids, tryin to hang on to the empire,,that was originally stolen. The Eastern Roman empire was alllllllways proped up from the Upper Nile Valley civilizations,, and even thou those great Theben legions were dismantled before the assault on the Eastern empire,, pharonic or not... cleopatra could not muster up the HELP of the warriors from the south,,,to help defend her beloved homeland. Instead of humbling herself,,and asking HELP from the southern regions,,, she listened to MARK Antoney..and expected him to save here.....(((buzzzz))) wrong choice..!! It had always thoughout tradition for any pharoe (if you were a pharoe) especially a (dual crowned) pharoe to request the resources from the south,,,this is wat the duel crown is about.. The ultimate unification of the Lower/Upper nile.
