By Brian FairbanksDecember 2nd, 2010, 4:09 pmComments (3)The Social Network was named the year's best motion picture at a press conference by the National Board of Review, an organization which kicks off the Hollywood awards season each year.
Jesse Eisenberg somehow won Best Actor, while Aaron Sorkin got the nod for Best Screenplay and David Fincher took home Best Director over Christopher Nolan's work on Inception. In fact, Inception went away emptyhanded.
The 11 runners-up, in alphabetical order:
Another Year
The Fighter
Hereafter
Inception
The King’s Speech
Shutter Island
The Social Network
The Town
Toy Story 3
True Grit
Winter’s Bone
The full list — available at IndieWire — includes wins for The Town, Winter's Bone, Sofia Coppola and Christian Bale.

Inception is the movie of the year, but The Social Network is the film of the year
