Wes Anderson. The name alone conjures up a distinct visual universe suffused with quirky nostalgia, punctuated by an eclectic soundtrack. After famously being declared "the next Scorsese" by Martin Scorsese himself (in Esquire magazine), Anderson has delivered on that hype.... at least to a degree. And the trailer for his seventh full-length feature, Moonrise Kingdom, his first live-action film since 2007's The Darjeeling Limited, is now here, following the anthropomorphic diversion of Fantastic Mr. Fox.

The film reunites Anderson with his old writing partner, Roman Coppola, and it looks to be classic Anderson, with the dry-as-dust comic sensibility, those symmetrical compositions (as if a shot not perfectly centered would make him physically ill), a golden hue reminiscent of Darjeeling, and, of course, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray. In other words, all the elements that will make Anderson diehards lose their shit.

And the film contains, shockingly, a happy relationship! Specifically, it concerns two twelve-year-olds in love (Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward) living on an island off the coast of New England and the search party that's pursuing them. The cast also includes Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and, perhaps calling to mind De Niro in This Boy's Life, Edward Norton as a bumbling Scoutmaster.

May 25, Anderson fans. May 25.

I'm not an Anderson fanboy. (Loved FMF, but nothing else.) This looks amazing.
