Madonna

I guess network officials are no longer worried about potential controversy or wardrobe malfunctions. SBNation.com is now reporting that Madonna will perform at Super Bowl XLVI in February. While the NFL has yet to confirm, it's certainly a major upgrade after last year's Black Eyed Peas debacle.

The biggest question is just how much creative freedom they'll allow the Queen of Pop to have over her stage show, eight years after Janet's nip slip. Madonna's certainly toned things down in recent years, so there probably won't be any of the burning crosses or cone bras of yore. Those hoping for girl-on-girl makeout action, as in Madonna's 2003 VMA appearance with Britney and Christina, will probably come away disappointed as well.

But let's be honest — even with those gimmicks, it still wouldn't have half the sex appeal of Prince's Super Bowl appearance. Still, I'm holding out hope for a classic, '80s-centric set list. Come on, Madge, take me all the way back!

Wait Five Minutes

This will be a good reason to go out for a three-mile run during halftime

Following in the Grand Super Bowl tradition of picking washed up, no longer relevant performers. Wonderful.

Madonna and her dried up snatch stopped being relevant in 1995. I don't want to see her strutting her boney ass on stage while clinging to youth with her gollum-like arms.

Wouldn't they be better off just having some marching bands?
