Michele Bachmann compares gay marriage to Pearl Harbor
By Jessica GentileJuly 8th, 2011, 7:00 pmComments (32)In case you were wondering, Michele Bachmann's penchant for historical inaccuracies and overall craziness is not a newfound phenomena. This recently discovered document from 2004 finds Bachmann comparing gay marriage to the horrors of war. She basically claims that senators who opposed that year's marriage amendment are like soldiers who missed Pearl Harbor warning signs. Quick, avert the impending disaster of two men (or women) living in marital bliss!
Her letter is all sorts of messed up, which I guess isn't really all that unexpected. Though she definitely overdoes it on the exclamation points. Read it in its entirety below.

Agree or disagree with her, at least she is willing to stand her ground on an issue. Too many politicians are just big pussies that will say whatever someone wants to hear. I'd fuck her but never vote for her.
Wow, you really had something to say until that last sentence. Then you just became another angry misogynist.
Not this again, right. I guess you could, by that logic, say that Hitler was a pretty smashing dood too because at least he stood his ground on what he believed. Or, the westboro baptist church is REALLY COOL because they stand their ground on what they believe in. So, cool. Omg.
And yes, these are hyperbolic examples but it shows the flaw in the logic you just tried to use to justify whatever it is you think.
@asherear1 - According to dictionary.com, the word misogynist means "hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women". Not sure how his last sentence is an example of this. Or that he is angry. All he is saying there is that he thinks she is sexually attractive but doesn't believe in her political ideals.
There's a difference between "she's easy on the eyes" and "I'd fuck her." One's just plain not appropriate outside a private bachelor party.
It is dismissive and undermines any serious argument the OP was trying to make.
"I'd fuck her but never vote for her" encapsulates the entire attitude toward women that misogynists have. "She'd be awesome to screw, but I wouldn't actually take her seriously"...Completely dehumanizing and objectifying. I don't even like her politics and I don't give a shit if she stands her ground on her ass-backwards ideas, but she is actually a person.
I dunno. I'd fuck Paul Ryan but never vote for him. I don't think that makes me a misandrist. Some people are better on the outside than the inside. It's actually the rest of the argument that I find offensively dumb. We shouldn't admire people for sticking to their guns no matter what -- compromise and collaboration is the only way a republic can run smoothly.
Well, I'd fuck her, but I'd never vote for her either. Mind you, there are LOTS of women I'd fuck but not vote for... the vast majority of the exceedingly capable at whatever they tackle... just typically not politics.
Son of a bitch. Guess I'm a misogynist because I like to fuck women.
Spewing demagogic filth, nonsensical illogic, incendiary agitprop and obscene accusations is NOT "standing your ground", it's vile, and I don't fuck vile people - or vote for them either.
Oh come on. Just a quick fuck?
I really don't get this whole "attack on family" rhetoric -- gay marriage is only an addition to the spectrum of marriage, not a subtraction. Allowing gays to marry isn't going to affect the legions of heteros currently married, or the straight folks who will eventually get married. They'll stay married (or get married) just the same as if gays were still being discriminated against.
It is just that - rhetoric. It is easier for people to say that they disagree with an idea, rather than hate a people. "I don't hate gays, I just don't want my marriage harmed" or "I don't hate Jews, I just think that Israel is an evil country" or "I don't hate black people, I just support the republican party" ROFLROFLROFL.
I don't hate babies, I just support a woman's right to "choose".
I don't think women are incapable of making their own healthcare decisions, I just think any of them who would choose abortion clearly don't know their own minds and need access barriers, mandatory waiting periods and repeated misinformation.
your sarcasm is spot on marigoldrobin
She had crazy eyes then, she has crazier eyes now.
I don't think we've scratched the surface of how crazy her eyes can actually get. Let's not underestimate here. We're still riding off the heels of Palin...
Oh, dude. There's someone else I'd fuck, but not vote for. Sarah Palin... tasty.
It's a historical fact that the senators missed the warning signs because they were making out with each other.
I don't know which I love more, your name or your statement.
Do you love either enough to fuck him but not vote for him?
Well, they aren't completely devoid of similarities... they were both brought on by the Japanese.
Damn you, Takei!
But... I thought it was OK to be Takei.
compared, not compares
I was really into this till I got to the last bullet point. Ahhhh! It was a chain letter all along! Damn you Aunt Sally!
funniest comment ever.
I wonder if her extreme opposition to gays and their potential union is actually because she is a closeted lesbian.
Somewhere, Betty Friedan is thinking, "Yeah, this is not what I had in mind."
You think Michele is in the closet? Her husband is so deep in the closet he can see Narnia.
I signed up for her email list through Hooksexup and then routed the domain to my trash. Draining her advertising budget one click at a time.
ROFLMFAO!!!
Now you say something
