What better way to emotionally manipulate potential voters than to reveal past pregnancy struggles? At a campaign stop in South Carolina, Michele Bachmann disclosed a previously unmentioned miscarriage and said that it made her even more against abortion than ever before. And surely her supremely personal experiences should inform all of your reproductive rights, right? Here's what she said:
...Part of our faith is standing for the area of life. And we are completely committed. After our second child was born, we became pregnant with a third baby, and it was an unexpected baby, but of course we were delighted to have this child. And the child was coming along, and we ended up losing that child. And it was devastating for both of us, as you can imagine if any of you have lost a child. At that moment we didn't think of ourselves as overly career-minded or overly materialistic. When we lost that child, it changed us. And it changed us forever.
And so we made a commitment that no matter how many children were brought into our life we would receive them, because we're committed to life. And we didn't know it at that time that we'd be foster parents and that one day we'd be parents of 28 children, but we are extremely grateful for that opportunity because you can get money wrong, but you can't get life wrong. And I am committed to life.
Sure, a miscarriage is a sad, possibly traumatic event and it's admirable that Bachmann has gone on serve as a foster parent to literally dozens of children. But if you're really going to be "committed to life," let's show a little more respect for women who are, uh alive, and the family-planning choices they want to make.

I hope someone points out that women have miscarriages ALL THE TIME--Like, for real, almost every woman I know has had at least one--- and citing it as a some sort of rare-event as evidence (and because of that rarity, that it imparts rhetorical or logical weight to her argument) is invalid. I know many women who lost babies who wanted them, and several who lost babies and who were RELIEVED. So, screw you Michele Bachmann, for your little dig about "materialism" and "career-mindedness." I'm glad for you that you were in a position to take care of your unexpected baby. Not everyone is.
Amen to that.
Indeed. Miscarriages are extremely common. And I'm tired of hearing her head-count for how many children she "raised".
I'd fuck her, but I wouldn't vote for her.
Ugh, I'm tired of reading about this bitch. Someone please release the sex tape so we can be finished with her.
likeeee.
Yeah, because a conservative woman deserves to be the object of your misogyny, correct? "Bitch," "sex tape?"
Get out much, trog?
@patricjames,
I don't hate women. I don't hate anyone. I just detest dumb bitches. Okkkay?!
Some of your best friends are women, right?
Sexist asshole.
@patricjames - hallelujah, brother. Keep 'em barefoot and pregnant, with pliable legs and no brains. I'm all about that. If I wanna talk, I'll talk with my buddies.
Liberal Hooksexup readers are filled with so much hatred and venom...
Really. To quote you on another comment: "The world is just a tiny bit better for this fucktard no longer being in it. If only Bam had been his passenger instead of an innocent non-jackass..."
----->Hypocrite.
It's all about context, isn't it? And you're more than willing to totally mischaracterize MRAGH, aren't you?
jr -> Dumbass.
Not really. It is a quote in it's complete form, not taken out of context.
"@jr" --->needs to to learn how to be a better troll.
One might assume that someone having undergone such an incident should have special insight into reproductive complications. Michelle Bachmann is not that woman. She sees herself as just another womb surrounded by a woman. Today, at the wrong time in the wrong state, her miscarriage could've been investigated as an attempted abortion. Talk about invasive government intrusion. I doubt Representative Bachmann will ever recognize the possible irony.
And she should take *exactly* the insight from her situation what you'd assign her, shouldn't she?
You're an idiot, Rex.
FYI: If someone responds with a "@" with your name in the comments, it's probably the same conservative, sexually repressed, "Oh, such a I'm a victim" right-wing troll masquerading as a feminist. Trolls will be trolls.
I don't see her as a womb surrounded by a woman. I see her as a vag surrounded by skin.

@patriciajames, @jr, @RM = Publius, resident troll.
Proceed to engage the troll at your own risk and expense, as past performance indicates that the troll lies in wait, constantly refreshing every thread he posts in, and will persist in trollery beyond the capacity of any individual person with a social life to respond.
So close but, no.
Back to the basement, jock sniffer!
I fear Publius. He is much smarter than I am and I am afraid of him.
And, no, I do not know the proper use of the word "incitements," but you should still listen to me. Do not be fooled, even if I am a fool.
Add "LiquidCourage" to the list. Nice work, LiquidCourage, er, Publius. All that trolling effort... couldn't you turn that into something constructive? (Preferably, somewhere else?)
And, no, I am not sharp enough to tell the difference between "patricjames" and "patriciajames."
Still, don't be fooled. There are trolls out there that you're not smart enough to detect. Do not think for yourselves. Listen to me. I am not a troll even though all I ever do is act like one. Well, when I'm not sniffing Publius' jock.
"Anti-choice"...you mean "pro-life"?
it's rather offensive just like calling pro-choice folks anti-life or pro-abortion.
Very valid, pithy, succncit, and on point. WD.
Hot damn, looking pretty ueusfl buddy.
