romney and santorum

Mitt Romney's crisis is over... for now. Rick Santorum had enjoyed a wide lead among Michigan GOP primary voters — an embarrassment to the Romney campaign, which many pundits believed was nearing its end — but Romney managed to carry his home state, as well as Arizona (where Gov. Jan Brewer had endorsed him), by 3% and 20% respectively.

"We didn’t win by a lot but we won by enough and that's what counts," Romney said in a victory speech, although the narrow win still raises questions about his sway with the Republican base.

Santorum had 6-to-1 support among voters who rated their top issue as abortion, and greater support than Romney among voters who expected a candidate to share their religious beliefs, according to the Associated Press. But it appears that Romney won on his economic views and experience. Also, Santorum's last-minute gaffes about the snobbery of college education and the repulsiveness of JFK certainly helped doom him, since Democrats and independents could vote.

Nevertheless, Santorum remained upbeat. "We came into the backyard of one of my opponents, in a race that everyone said, 'Just ignore, you really don’t have much chance here,'" he told supporters. "All I have to say is, 'I love you back.'"

But not the gross, icky kind of love. That's Satan.

Did you also hear Santorum's line, something to the effect of how his politics rises up from the bottom? It's like the guy never googled himself.
