Watch: Stephen Colbert's heartfelt "It Gets Better" video
By Jessica GentileJuly 20th, 2011, 3:45 pmComments (7)By now we're all used to Stephen Colbert's zany, satirical antics, so it's a real shock to see him drop his shtick for a couple of minutes in this genuinely heartfelt "It Gets Better" video. Colbert steps out of character and recounts angst-ridden, childhood memories of getting bullied (and called a queer) in the schoolyard, and the pain and power that words can have. It's probably one of the most powerful statements he's ever made and it didn't even require an ounce of mockery.

Thank you Steven....buts this is just toooo deep for young children and adolescents to understand.....children believe everything they're told and adolescents....are painfully trying to make it through .....it is our job as adults to protect children and kids from bullying....but nice try
I got called gay a lot when I was a kid, too (for pretty stupid reasons). So I can relate to this.
Same. When I was like in 3rd-5th grade. Then again in 7th grade.
Further evidence that Stephen Colbert is a wonderful man.
He is indeed.
how can one man be so beautiful?
